Description: Homes in Mexicali, Baja California are surrounded by solid waste, product of frequent pollution. Families and animals can not avoid breathing the polluted air of Mexicali. Trash that belongs in the trash can are outside in the streets where animals and children could into contact with the trash. There is also an abandoned house that could be a home to a family but is used as a trash can. The bricks that surround the trash are hazardous to anybody who need a clear pth to walk through. The poverty in Mexicali is severe, something should be done to help the large community look and feel better. There are homeless men, women and children wh need a home but de to the lack of resources do not have a home nd sleep surriunded by trash that affects the community's health.

Description: The air quality that the city of Brawley has been experiencing this Spring of 2017, has been a 'red flag' to many of the residents. Many of the causes are often overseen and thought of to be less harmless than people might like to believe. Some of these causes are: pesticides used in crops, the burning of old crop fields, dirt and dust, and carbon monoxide from cars. These factors can easily be controlled to improve our air quality. The burning of crops and spraying pesticides on crops can be taken place on certain days to allow the air and atmosphere to clear and purify. The carbon monoxide from cars and other transportation vehicles can be reduced by people using their cars less and using their bodies or other methods of clean transportation to not-so-important errands.

Description: Spreckles is a sugar beat company located right outside of Brawley, CA. It provides a vast amount of sugar for various companies like Coca-Cola and Hershey's. As much as it helps the Imperial Valley residents with jobs and an abundance of sugar. It also releases tens of thousands of pounds of ammonia into the air and ground polluting the Imperial Valley air and soil.

Description: The following images and video were taken in an alley by House of Bread Ministries on the corner of 199 Main St. and N. 2nd St. I discovered an abundance of solid wastes. Littering is a problem because it causes damage to where we live. This also makes our community look ugly. If this continues this will ruin our environment slowly.

Description: The New River is foaming up bad and there is a really bad smell coming from it that is polluting the air. There is also glass near a New River area that can hurt animals such as ducks that live there. There are tires and trash all around the "ponds" by the river.

Description: For my environmental science project I took pictures of the New River that flows through the valley towards the Salton Sea. The New River is very polluted, it's referred to as the most severely polluted river of its size in the US, the river flow isn't natural at all it consists of agricultural runoff, municipal discharge and industrial dumping. The New River contains pesticides known as DDT and PCBs it also contains pathogens that cause many illnesses some being tuberculosis, encephalitis, polio, and ect. This River is very harmful to the environment and it's frightful to think that you can see this River at a park where many children play at. If nobody helps fix the pollution rate in the New River which flows into the Salton Sea it'll most likely increase in toxicity!

Description: Trash on the side of the road and dumping right next to the new river where there is a horrible smell. The trash can go into the water and make the water look like waste even more than it does. The new river water has a terrible scent and the trash around it is just solid waste.

Description: A burned down house is not closed off and has not been cleaned up, though the incident occurred several years ago. It is worrisome because it was an old house, and old houses were built with lead paint, asbestos, etc. The site could potentially be releasing harmful chemicals in the air or the ground. The area may be unsafe.

Description: There's a large wooden obstacle in the middle of the road, obstructing the path of incoming traffic. There's also a lot of broken shards of glass and a significant amount of trash. Trash is a killer of our precious environment and to our environment, plus its ugly, gross, and damaging to the image of our community.
