Description: On June 21, 2016 I was driving by Mc Cabe Road in El Centro driving into Heber I noticed that someone was burning hay bales and the air quality color was yellow and during the week that all fire permits were but on hold so I am wondering what happened here. ADMIN: DTSC Imperial CUPA has forwarded complaint to APCD. APCD RESPONSE: This day was designated as a No-Burn Day, however there was an accidental fire at Wilber Ellis which is located to the West of the I.V. Mall. The fire caught several hay stacks on fire and the County Fire Department and El Centro Fire Department attended. The Air District called a No Burn Day for the entire week as we were being impacted by smoke from the Potrero Fire up in the mountains. That is the same week there was that fire at the dismantler in Calexico.

Description: While driving from El Centro to Calexico I was able to spot in El Centro by Targer the smell of burnt. While driving towards Calexico I was able to see a field burning affecting El Centro residents and myself with the strong smell of burnt getting into my house and car. As I drove by 111 between el centro and heber i was able to see the burnt. Air quality is not that good for filed burning according to data from APCD website AQI index. DTSC Imperial CUPA has forwarded this complaint to APCD. APCD RESPONSE: This day was designated as a Burn Day. The air quality website indicated we had good and moderate air quality throughout the day. I know the complainant states that the AQI was bad, but it never reached the level of “unhealthy”. There were two control burns in the McCabe and Highway 111 area, winds were from the southwest which would have blown the smoke away from El Centro. We would really need more information from the complainant as he/she originally stated the smell was around Target which is several miles away from the control burns.

Description: Fire At Recyling Facility June 20 2016 , place was a facility that stored various types of hazardous materials, including tires, paint , chemicals, automotive. It was already a bad air quality day, it is close to a sensitive group already struggling to breathe clean air. the fire was blazing for a few hours and black smoke emitting to community. ADMIN: This was a fire at GP Recycling Center. The DTSC Imperial CUPA took samples and will continue to work with the Calexico Fire Department to determine if hazardous waste is present.

Description: Cloverleaf Dr in Salton City is being used as a regular dump site, along the road up to the cell tower and in the adjacent wash. Dumping activity is quickly becoming more frequent. Burrtec only charges about $20 per month, so what's the point of this ignorant dumping?
