Fieldburning smoke blanketing a road on Worthington Road
Status: Unresolved
Date: Sunday 5 June 2011 11:15 AM
Address: Worthington Road Imperial CA. 92251
Description: When driving on Worthington Road a field was burning and the smoke blanketed the road so there was a fellow leaning on a truck with a red flag under his arm(not waving the flag) I asked are you the flagger for the field burning and he said yes, I did tell him if he was suppose to have called the highway patrol to set up a detour and barricade and he said no this is not a highway, we just flag. I asked what am I suppose to do, he said wait till the smoke clears or go thru. So I decide to go thru to get out quick and not be around the smoke longer. This was reported directly to Brad Poirez and he also pointed out that the flagger was not in the right spot, he should of been farther back away from the fire to set up a detour and a way out for the cars there. He said that they just recently had training with the farmers and flaggers. I got a response back the following day personally from one of his staff.
