border pollution coming from vehicles waiting in line

Status: Unresolved

Date: Monday 28 March 2011 13:30 PM

Address: Calexico, International Border

Description: Calexico Port Director on March 27th, 2011

Just let you know about the vehicles wait in line Saturday March 26th. 7 lanes were closed with CBP officers inside the booths, that included the three stacked outside to the right and the gate in front of the lanes were closed. This artificially increases the wait in line causing the emission to increase from the vehicles waiting to cross the international border to Calexico from Mexico.

I asked about why the other lanes were closed and the CBP officer explained "it was because of staffing shortage."

Check your BWT report about that time and the wait states was 15 minutes or watching the La Cronica web cam supported the BWT around 6:15 AM. When I arrived to cross and the lines were 40 minutes wait. I wonder why so many people at the same time, but the answer, the lanes were closed ahead.

This time of the morning the emission stays close to the ground affecting children with asthma or those that suffer from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease - COPD which I suffer everyday. You can't breathe and like asthma you are begging for air.

There are consequences from artificial delays to cross the line timely and people can died.

Thank you in advance

Sincerely

Ray Askins
