Hazy Sky / Poor Air Quality

Today's current Air Quality Index level is listed as "unhealthy" on the Imperial County Air Quality Control Board website. Indeed, as I left my home in El Centro to go grocery shopping, I quickly noticed a hazy sky and dust enveloping my surroundings. On my way back home, I noticed that the majority of wind blown dust came from the dirt roads on an agricultural plot east of the Cardenas grocery store. The wind blown dust I noticed, originated from an agricultural field located on the corner of LaBrucherie and Lincoln Ave. This must be a common occurrence -- perhaps the dirt road should be minimized, paved, or regulated? There is a school playground and neighborhoods nearby and I can only imagine the role it plays in their lives of students when playing outdoors on days like today. Perhaps this nearby school (MLK Elementary School) ought to participate in an air quality flag program?
