Agricultural burning happening just a couple of miles away from schools. Children are playing at the time of this event. (I was not able to get to the exact location of the burning, but it is a good estimate).

Administrator Comment: ADMIN: Comite Civico del Valle has forwarded this report to the Imperial County Air Pollution Control 2/23 at 2pm. ADMIN: According to DTSC, "An Inspector attended the complaint this afternoon. The Inspector first drove to the middle school, this is the same school where the pictures on the IVAN website were taken. Upon his arrival the Inspector noticed that winds were variable at less than 3 MPH. The smoke was traveling SE and away from the school. No odors or smoke was detected within the perimeter of the school. The Inspector then drove to the burn site. The location of the burn site was approximately 6 miles North of the City of Calipatria. These burn was a permitted burn that was conducted by IID with the assistance of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Fire Service. The burn took place at Canal/Gate P20 and they burned a total of 60 acres of marsh land at 20 acre intervals. There were flaggers along Highway 111 and the surrounding roads ensuring drivers were aware of the burn. This concluded the investigation of the burn." 2/23
