At around 1:43 pm, ICAPCD Staff arrived in the east side of the town of Westmorland, next to the Westmorland School District (200 S. C Street, Westmorland, CA). Staff did not see anyone burning next to the school. For today (09/27/24), ICAPCD authorized a burn of 72 acres of corn stack at Sumac 90, crossroads Cady Rd. & Fox Rd. in Westmorland, CA. At the time of this inspection, winds were variable. The agricultural field control burn was 3.33 miles away, toward the southwest, from the City of Westmorland. Staff stayed for 15 minutes next to the school, and during this time the smoke from the agricultural field burn was traveling southeast, approaching the south end of Westmorland. At the time of the inspection, ICAPCD Staff did not witness any smoke impacting Westmorland Union Elementary School District or the City of Westmorland. At approximately at 2:05 p.m., ICAPCD Staff left the City of Westmorland.
