APCD Response:
ICAPCD investigated this report, which was regarding a concern (submitted via an anonymous party on IVAN) of a toxic looking fire on Sunday January 23, 2022 at approximately 12:00 p.m. The location of the fire, according to the reporting party, was Kubler and Corda Roads in Calexico, CA. ICAPCD Enforcement Staff confirmed that the field in question was an ICAPCD-approved controlled burn scheduled for 12:00 p.m. on January 23, 2022. The location of the field was Wisteria Canal, Gate 66, which is located at the intersection of Kubler & Corda Roads west of Calexico, CA. The scheduled burn was carried out without incident, and the approximate acreage of the burn was 85 acres. ICAPCD Enforcement Staff checked to see if our agency received any complaints of this agricultural burn at the time of the event, and no complaints were submitted directly to the ICAPCD for this approved agricultural burn.
