IVAN Air — Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how the IVAN Air mobile application (the “App”) handles your information. The App is provided by Comité Cívico del Valle, Inc. (“CCV”, “we”, “us”), operator of the IVAN air-monitoring network. IVAN Air lets you view air-quality readings from public monitors and, optionally, receive alerts when monitors you choose reach an unhealthy level.

Information we collect

• Location (optional, while using the App). If you grant location access, your device’s location is used only on your device to sort monitors by distance and center the map. Your location is not sent to our servers and is never shared. You can use the App without granting location access.
• Email address (optional). If you enter an email address on the Alerts screen, it is stored with your alert subscription so we can contact you about your air-quality alerts. Providing an email is optional.
• Push notification token. If you enable alerts, your device’s Apple Push Notification token is sent to and stored on our server so we can deliver air-quality push notifications. It does not identify you personally.
• Alert preferences. The monitors you select and the alert levels you choose are stored with your subscription so the alerts can be sent.

The App does not require you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, contacts, photos, or browsing activity.

How we use information

• To show air-quality readings and maps.
• To send the push notifications you ask for, when a monitor you selected reaches your chosen level.
• To prevent excessive notifications (we send at most one alert per monitor every few hours).

What we do not do

• We do not sell or rent your information.
• We do not use advertising or third-party tracking/analytics SDKs.
• We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Third-party services

To deliver notifications we use Apple Push Notification service (APNs), operated by Apple Inc. Air-quality data shown in the App comes from public environmental monitors in the IVAN network and partner sources.

Data retention

We keep your alert subscription (email, push token, and preferences) until you disable alerts, remove the monitors, or uninstall the App. Push tokens that Apple reports as invalid are deleted automatically.

Security

Information is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS) and stored on access-controlled servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.

Children’s privacy

The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your choices

• Turn alerts on or off at any time from the Alerts screen.
• Manage notification and location permissions in iOS Settings.
• Uninstalling the App removes the subscription data stored on your device; your server-side subscription is removed when you disable alerts or when its push token becomes invalid.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the “Last updated” date above.
